C-17 Globemaster III - Spirit of Hanoi Taxi

My Process:
This drawing was originally created and composed in as a 3D model in Blender, and finalized in Photoshop, then I transferred my digital concept to pape using pencil and paper using my MetaQuest 3 AR/VR headset and Stencil VR. This is how I compose many of my subjects, by building and composing in 3D and transforming it to analog paper and/or canvas. When I don't have a 3D model, I often use physical scale plastic models and photograph them and then again, use my MetaQuest AR/VR headset and Stencil VR to transfer my composition to a physical substrate. Description of scene:
"The C-17 Globemaster III is the most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. The aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations. The inherent flexibility and performance of the C-17 force improve the ability of the total airlift system to fulfill the worldwide air mobility requirements of the United States." The "Spirit of Hanoi Taxi" is a C-17 Globemaster III designated by the 445th Airlift Wing in September 2025 to honor the original "Hanoi Taxi" (a C-141 Starlifter). This new designation pays tribute to the historic 1973 mission where the original plane brought American POWs home, continuing that legacy of honor during special veteran flights.
